Relatively Real

2005 – 2007

Relatively Real was an 80-minute long interdisciplinary work exploring the relativity of identity and perception – who we think we are, how others perceive us, and how filters of time, place, and security tip the grasp of our-selves. The performers traversed through multiple identities including androgyny, cartoon gender, essential self, and organism in this highly physical, richly textured, and emotionally layered piece.

Adam McCollom composed the score, adding his haunting and ethereal sound
Stephan Gruber contributed whimsical imagery through his animation
Alex Korahais created eight, mobile, monolithic screens for the scene design
Julie Keenan boldly light the world
Alex Martin contributed her outrageous, gender-bending costumes
